The rubber gaskets hairline crack (maybe sooner) Anyway ALWAYS test before each trip and replace or carry this kit on trips where you have no bqackup stove or wood to cook with (assuming fires are allowed).Going on 19 years, my only concern is when the fuel line will go. At $50 to repalce by MSR, I'll get a new one soon. I would take 2 clamps and a spare just in case now.Store out of UV Sunlight.

Heat Reflector & Windscreen Review

(More customer reviews)The image shows two pieces.The heat deflector image (bottom) does not show a hole in the middle so it can be placed under the stove to protect the fuel line as a simple firewall (best use for safety reasons, not heat reflection to pan) .

The MSR Base options might not accept ths piece.The windshield is a good option, but most times I do not use.A large paper clip is recommended to hold the two ends securely together.The price is too high.

(More customer reviews)This stove works so well, it is almost too hot to fry something on top in a pan!I fill it with small chunks (cubes About 3/4" to 1") that I make out of old pallets, and this thing rocks!If you use sticks or twigs broken up they have to be DRY!!, and they don't gasify as long as my wood chunks do.We even cooked 14 ears of corn on the cob the other evening.It will boil water so easily.

How it Works =Dual Stage Combustion:
WoodGas burning systems effectively burn the fuel twice.
In the first stage, combustion air is driven into the fuel to create some smoke (or wood-gas).
In the second stage, more combustion air is driven into the chamber to burn the gas from the first stage. The electric fan provides the combustion air in just the right amounts to produce the gas and burn it completely.

(More customer reviews)I purchased three of these portable butane stoves for an event I was catering.When I tried them out, one of the three did not light properly.I received a replacement, and all seemed well.
At the event, I could not get two of the burners to work, and had to scramble to find at least one portable burner from a friend.During the event, the flames would shoot out of the unit, and at one point I burned my hand.Then the flame would get very low and did not keep the heat at a uniform temperature.I ended up returing a total of four of these units.

I strongly recommend you spend more money and get a more reliable product.This is a cheap stove that will not go the distance.

MSR Dragonfly Stove Review

I went backpacking for a whole week, and another group with us had the whisperlite, and the dragonfly was obviously so much easier to use than the whisperlite. It's heat is so much more adjustable, and therefore uses much less gas than most other stoves. Also, the stand is much easier to use, causing far less spills and more stability than the whisperlite. It heats water much faster and is more user-friendly. I definately recommend it!

MSR Standard Fuel Pump Review

(More customer reviews)MSR has always made great lightweight stoves but have made terrible pumps.I have been through three generations of pumps.The first generation came apart on a winter trip scattered fuel everywhere and set the snow on fire.Tabs holding the pump handle broke off.The second generation also breaks tabs but at least it didn't set me on fire.It also simmered well.The third generation (shown here) switched to a rubber cup instead of leather so it siezes in hot desert weather.You have to oil it often.The check valves fail easily.It will not simmer.Nor does it turn off properly leaving the stove burning at a low level.You have to blow it out to be sure.It also has weak plastic threads that strip easy.It no longer has an O ring on the bottle so it will eventually leak in your pack.The second generation pump was the best of a bad lot but this new one is worthless.

(More customer reviews)This is my first compact backpacking stove and I am not disappointed.It is light and compact.The boiling time is pretty accurate according to the specs.It does, in fact, sound like a jet engine when you crank it all the way up.The weather I was in was around the upper 50's, low 60's during the day/evening and upper 40's in the morning and I had no problem lighting it.Can't speak though to problems I have read about trouble in lower temps.Glad I purchased this item and would recommend it to anyone.

(More customer reviews)I'm not sure what the other reviewer means.The title says "MSR Windpro Canister Stove," but perhaps I missed some other (erroneous) mention of liquid fuel in the details.At any rate, the other reviewer and the item's title are correct--this is a canister stove as is made clear by the picture.This stove is great because you can use a traditional wind-screen with it since the canister is away from the flame.MSR has achived this while keeping the stove very light...and quite stable.This is a great stove and I have no real complaints.I have 3 MSR stoves and they make quality products which they stand behind if anything goes wrong (which has only happened once to me)--Great customer service!

I have tried all of the different camping stoves, from cheap singles to the old coleman green box stoves.

The same thing always comes up, MORE heat needed and more stability.

This stove has both, the burners are a nice 12,000 BTU so you can heat up a family size portion.
the flame is a nice ball of heat with a light blue tint.(white flame will black your pans!)

First thing I noticed is the Side holders are bent out a little bit, this will make it easier to put a larger pot and keep your wind protection.

The knobs are very easy to adjust and of most important "Matchless" lighting is always much easier.

More Observations:Box is nice quality so I will likely store my stove in the box, it also has a couple of recipes on the side.

I checked into an adapter for using this with a bulk tank, YES it is possible it just hooks onto the end where you would put on a disposable bottle.My first reaction was it would be better to hook into the stove, after further review, having both options is always the best, (I would loose the disposable bottle arm)

For the price this is available this is the best deal in town, the other model with the bigger side griddle
Camp Chef Mountain Series Grill and Portable Camp Stove at the time of this writing was $20 more.

This is also a great stove for power outages, it is so simple.
